As a queer non-binary person with disabilities, their journey has been deeply personal, shaped by navigating the intersections of identity, technology, and human rights. This lived experience fuels their commitment to creating a world where everyone feels seen and valued. In 2022, Juma co-founded Anapakina Africa, a community-based organization dedicated to uplifting gender and sexual minority persons with disabilities in Kenya, working to build a society that truly embraces inclusion and equity. In addition, Juma is currently a Communications Officer at Women Spaces Africa, a Women With Disabilities-led organization for Women With Disabilities in all their Diversities in Kenya.

My fellowship project will focus on creating a comprehensive digital toolkit and training program for grassroots advocates in East Africa, addressing the intersection of disability, LGBTQIA+ identities, and SRHR. The project aims to equip activists with skills in strategic communications, safe documentation of violence, and inclusive advocacy to challenge systemic barriers and improve access to justice and healthcare for these multiply marginalized communities.
